Das sind nur 2 der begeisterten Reaktionen auf die Erste Barock CD des Wave Marimba Quartets ,Bach Concertos‘ in Zusammenarbeit mit Peter Sadlo und dem Originalklang Ensemble Salzburg Barock.

Mit dem Folgeprojekt Senza Riepieno setzt das Quartet diese einzigartige Idee fort.

,Wir passen die Marimba an die Musik der Barockzeit an und nicht umgekehrt‘ so Bogdan Bacanu, der Gründer des seit 2008 in der ganzen Welt konzertierenden Ensembles.

Und so beeindruckte und begeisterte schon „Bach Concertos“ die Kritiker, darunter

eingefleischte Fans Historischer Aufführungspraxis.

Wo der Zuhörer bei diesem Projekt die faszinierende Kombination Marimba und Originalklangorchester erfahren durfte, erlebt er in der Fortsetzung die 4 Musiker noch näher und noch intimer, ohne Streicher, also „Senza Ripieno“!

Zu entdecken sind Schätze barocker Kunst wie eine Suite von Gaspard Le Roux, dem wohl interessantesten und zugleich mysteriösesten französischen Komponisten dieser Zeit und einer nur selten zu hörenden Sonata und Suite des Hamburger Meisters Johann Mattheson. Außerdem interpretiert das Quartett Musik J.S.Bachs, dem wohl bekanntesten aller Barockkomponisten.

Die Musiker offenbaren dabei ein völlig neues Erlebnis alter Musik. Einerseits streicheln sie die Ohren der Hörer mit Ihren Instrumenten bis ins leiseste Pianissimo, indem die Töne sanft wie Wassertropfen erklingen. Andererseits stürzen sie sich im Folgenden mit explosivem Rhythmus, aggressiv und doch unglaublich gefühlvoll in die nächste Melodie, reißen den Zuhörer mit ihrer Passion mit.

Bach with Four Marimbas (“Concerti for two Harpsichords by J.S. Bach“) is the most beautiful CD I have listened to in the last few years. I have no word to express what this music moves in me.

With this new version of the harpsichord concerti, Bogdan Bacanu has managed to make an extraordinary link between the purity of the most prized baroque composer, the modernization and the evolution of our taste in music, and the emotion in its highest level. Bach has often been interpreted a sort of ‘non-romantic’ music. Baroque music, according to specialists, is not ‘romantic’ music. Obviously! But does it mean that Bach had no feelings? Does it mean that it has to be interpreted in a cold way? The interpretation of these concerti, by the amazing Wave Quartet, shows that there is a way to understand Bach as a human being; the man who deeply loved his wives and his numerous children, the man who looked after orphans and taught them mathematics, religion, music; the man who did not care much about money but just dedicated himself to create, to compose, to help, to educate.

Bogdan Bacanu, whom I have seen in concerts many many times, and who, to me, has created new sounds, new ways of understanding music, has created with his marimba quartet something totally new. And this is far from being easy nowadays. The Wave Quartet are all musicians of a very high level, committed perfectionists - have worked for 18 months in a constant way before showing one sound to the public. As we say in French: ‘Chapeau’.
